Bald Eagle
(Haliaeetus leucocephalus)
with primaries and tail spread to decrease drag and improve lift as it maneuvers upwards from river-bed to nest.
Bald eagles can fly to an altitude of 10,000 feet. and achieve speeds in the neighborhood of 36 - 44 mph during level flight.
Did you know one way to determine the sex of an eagle is to examine its beak.
Females have deeper beaks than males (distance from top to chin).

Never have I seen a more beautiful depiction of the bald eagle's tail and outstretched wings. Magnificently captured and researched. So...is this a female? #8081130
