The Banzai Pipeline [Contest Finalists April 2007]
Uploaded: April 26, 2007 07:22:12
The North Shore of Hawaii is where the soul of surfing is located. The Banzai Pipeline is where the heart of that soul resides. Every winter, surfers from around the world converge on the North Shore to reconnect, challenge, master and sometimes pay the ultimate price at this location.
The shooting technique is a slow shutter speed while panning with the surfer. This creates a fluidity to the water and produces a unique visual effect.
This was photographed with a 600 mm lens at F4 and a shutter speed around 1/30 of a second.
