iso 400, 210mm, f/5, 1/1000, sports mode, slightly cropped.....Overcast day at the Pt Defiance Zoo, Tacoma WA....So there I sat, on the ground, trying to get as low as I could, lense as close as I could get it to the fence...The other zoo goers were looking at my camera/lens...the tiger was looking at lunch...:-)

Bob, did you happen to also take a pic in jpeg (similar pose) I would love to see the difference? #1833668Bob Cournoyer September 13, 2005
I'll try Natalie....I go back to work tomorrow for an 11 day stretch with a bunch of overtime.....So, somewhere in there I'll try to get a snap of the same object (not necessarily the tiger) in raw and jpeg. And then, since I'm new at this raw stuff, try to figure out how to get it on here....:-) #1833702Bob Cournoyer September 13, 2005
Sorry to bother you all, but I'm trying to figure out how to get a picture into a conversation......I could do it easily w/jpeg, but when I try to save something raw manipulated for the web, I only get choices of gif and pn something....Bob Cournoyer September 13, 2005
Okay, one more try... #1834339Bob Cournoyer September 13, 2005
Why did that happen????????? #1834352anonymous September 13, 2005
Mmmm bizarre...... I am finding it hard to differenciate raw and large fine jpeg. Maybe I need to do some test shots myself. #1834573Kerby Pfrangle September 14, 2005

Mr. Cournoyer, You've gotten so many compiments on this pic, I figured you'd like some constructive criticism as well so off the top of my head: don't you think that tiger is awfully orange? Does he look that way or were you playing with the saturation tool? And I think a giraffe or a spider monkey would have fit in the frame better. I'd clone out the grass, too...I don't like green and orange and Zebra's would have provided better lines if those are the main subject of your pic. You also might apply some Pshop tool to make his eyes bigger and rounder and use the clone tool to extend his tail...you could draw it up threw the grass for a close connect to his eyes which would help my eyes circulate through the pic...make tail curliques for added interest. That's all for this one. Your secret admireer, Me #2067560Bob Cournoyer November 12, 2005
Truthfully, Laura, I don't recall. I know I cropped it because of the way the picture dimensions look. I may have played with light levels, but as far as saturation....colors and I don't get along that well.....ask my wife, who's always saying, "You're going to wear that shirt with those pants?"...:-)Taylor January 02, 2006
