Ellora Cave Complex. West of India.
This is cave no.16. It is estimated that constriction work for this temple started sometime in 735 A.D and it took 10 generations work over 200 years for its completion. This is the biggest monolithic rock cut temple in the world, isolated from the surrounding rock and excavated from top to bottom and scooped out. Its mind-boggling to imagine what equipment and machinery they had back in those days to cut a solid rock and made a masterpiece out of it, the amazing sculptures that adorn the temple at its ground and 1st floor will take your breath away .........will come back with more ...this is only the 16th of the 34 caves in that complex!

I love what you share & teach me, in such a Beautiful & Memorable way with each photo! As a math person, I have strong feelings that the Drake Equation will explain the Magnifecence of these creations... These Works, & Angor Wat are too Perfect for the tools at the time... Consider other possibilities... #11547266John Koepfer @PresentPleasures December 22, 2016
