Some of the many sandhill cranes that are landing on the sandbars of the Platte River, at Rowe Sanctuary near Kearney, Nebraska. During the day, they eat in the farmers' fields. And at sunset, they head back to the Platte River.
There are tens of thousands of cranes that stay for about one month along a 50 mile stretch of river, before they head to Alaska and northern Canada. They'll all be gone within a week or so, I think.
