She LIVES! [Hydrangea Photographs]

----
I was on a photo walk yesterday (97 degrees F) in Germantown, an area in Philadelphia. In THAT urban setting, all of the gardens were lush and healthy, and the hydrangeas stole the show!
----
Here, in the suburbs, my hydrangea plant, in the past 15 years since I planted it, has NEVER got beyond the budding stage. The herds of marauding deer have seen to THAT!
----
But THIS year, the hydrangeas where our driveway meets the road have flourished and are gorgeous. It seems my next-door neighbors, who have turned their property into a mini botanical gardens, have found an effective deer repellant, and they have been spraying our hydrangeas along with their own.
----
It is a LOT of work to maintain two acres of gardens in this neighborhood. But they love the toiling that it takes.

Beautiful, Michelle - and I admire your fortitude for going out in 97-degree weather! We hit "our" park yesterday morning when it wasn't much more than 80 (but heating up fast to close to 100) and about 20 minutes was all I could take. #10208689
