Whalehead Club [Contest Finalists July 2010]
Uploaded: July 06, 2010 05:37:59
The Whalehead Club, located in Currituck Heritage Park in Corolla, North Carolina, was built in the 1920s as a private residence. Following World War II, it fell into disarray and was eventually purchased and restored by Currituck County. Along with the Currituck Beach lighthouses (which can be seen in the background), it is now one of the main attractions in the park and is open to visitors.

I remember commenting to you on this one when I first seen it! Nice low perspective so that the rails on either side immediately direct you into the photo, I like how one is higher than the other and how the lower most rail casts a shadow along the boardwalk’s floor, a reinforcing line that leads you across the length of the boardwalk and adds depth to the scene. The soft yellow of the this very magnificent Club “house” is complemented well by the green of the grass and the blue sky above...the beacon of the Currituck Lighthouse peeking out just above the greenery on the right…immediately caught my eye…a great additional element and finishing touch! Congrats on Finalist #2!!! #8834089
