Gorgeous portrait, impressive! #1235107Debbra Bailey February 05, 2010
Thank you Donna! The bride made it so much easier - she was amazing to work with. Willing to do whatever I asked, fun and beautiful too!Phellos - I photographed a wedding last weekend for the sister of my brother's girlfriend. I had never met the family, other than my brother's girlfriend and mom. Both families were just wonderful. Huge Italian families -welcomed us right in :) I already entered this shot, but I wanted to share what I have been up to, and of course, I would love to hear your thoughts!
This was taken with natural light. I added a layer of B's Vanilla and then blended it at about 40% I think. I also used a layer and multiplied it to get the vignette look.
I was thinking this morning about all the things I know how to do that I did NOT know a year ago. That is due to this club. Thank you so much for all of your insight and sharing of knowledge! I am excited for what I will learn THIS year! #8357923

I already told you this but I love the lighting on this one!!! :) I can't wait to see the rest!!!! :):):)I'm with you on knowing TONS more than I used to!! Now I have to keep up on using it so I don't forget it all!!! :) #8358012

Fantastic image Debbra! Nice work. #8358407Teresa H. Hunt February 05, 2010
Debbra, this is a beautiful image. The lighting and pose are perfect. Congrats on your EP.The only thing I don't like are the lines around her mouth . . . they make her look mad. Can you soften them a bit. Dale had me do that on one of my senior pictures. Now I don't remember exactly how . . . I think it was just some light cloning. #8358572
Debbra Bailey February 05, 2010
Thank you Bean, Jeff and Teresa! I will give softening her lines a try :) #8358588Dale Hardin February 05, 2010
Lovely work Deb. Very soft and appealing with excellent posing and beautiful lighting. My only suggestions is to open the shadows a bit in the hair and let the high lights show. Then soften the highlights just a bit on the arms and shoulder.
Teresa had a good catch. She does indeed look a little miffed and softening the mouth lines will help. The method I'd suggested on another image is to use the clone tool at about 20% in the lighten mode or darken mode depending on what you are changing. #8358828

I could really get to dislike you folk. I was totally captivated by her eyes and falling in love with Joanne. Now you have spoiled it for me. lolMichael Kelly February 05, 2010
Deb this has awesome tones and lighting and a wonderful vintage look to it. So professional. I think this one may go well beyond EP.While nothing about this shot looks like it requires fixing I think the eagle eyes have spotted a couple things that might make it even better, and, as good as it is already, that is scary. #8358982
Joan E. Hoffman February 05, 2010
LOL... yet another thing I would never have noticed, and I don't think the bride would either. Too me she looks a bit serious, as she well should be LOL! Life time decisions and all that! However, One of the nicest wedding portraits I have seen Deb! Hard to imagine it getting any better than this! #8359679

I am so with Peter...I could really get to dislike you folk. I was totally captivated by her eyes and falling in love with Joanne. Now you have spoiled it for me. lol So now I have to agree the arms and shoulder could use a little soften. for me I wouldn't know how to do that. so I'll back to my first impression and say WOW THIS IS VERY NICE great work for her and you.Dale Hardin February 06, 2010
I too, love this photo for what it is. A beautiful lady captured in a most flattering way with great skill and impeccable technique. That vision is not spoiled for me because of the nature of the club. Our goal, as I understand it, is to learn everything we can about increasing our skills, and the only way to do that is to learn how to spot areas that could, but not necessarily NEED, to be improved.
The key word here is NEED. The suggestions offered most of the time, are technical in nature only, with a few exceptions.
Whether the changes are made or not, the image will always be great and flattering, and a keeper. But in the end, someone will have acquired another insight into how to improve their next work. #8361037
