Cactus Flowers [Contest Finalists January 2010]
Uploaded: January 05, 2010 05:29:03
From a past trip to the North Carolina Outer Banks comes a trio of cactus blooms. I've said this to others here, but it always amazes me that such pretty flowers would associate with such an otherwise unfriendly plant! Still very cold here, plenty of snow on the ground and little to no sunshine.

A pleasing composition with the line of three cactus blooms running diagonally from corner to corner through the frame. The bright yellow flowers and fragile looking stamens such a textural contrast to the dark green thorny arms that surround them. The insect in the center of the bottom bloom, the finishing complement to this trio. Congratulations Monnie on your finalist selection!! #8406203Isabel C. Rodriguez March 03, 2010
