Windmill of your Mind [Mediterranean Pictures]
Uploaded: August 31, 2011 20:57:40
Back to Mykonos, Greece. Once, over 20 windmills existed on Mykonos and they have been used for grinding the agricultural products. Today, the mills aren’t used anymore. For anyone wondering how the skeleton framing could turn, when in use, triangular sails made of cloth are fastened to the frame which work against the wind to enable them to rotate. They now serve only as subjects for avid photographers and still turn but only in our minds...

I love the story behind the picture and found it a fasinating read. Lets me enjoy the picture even more. What history these old mills have, to bad we dont use them more often. Beautiful colors, that sky is such a beautiful way to bring them out. Love the rock around the mill. A gorgeous sight my friend.
