Desert Jewels #2
Uploaded: April 08, 2010
I found this lovely plant in the Desert Dome at the Henry Doorly Zoo. I was captivated by the sunlight on the leaves and the complementary colors. The colors in this capture are perfect accents for my family room so I recently had a 24x36 canvas wrap printed to hang over my sofa. Love it!

I really like the contrast of colors between the subject and background.... Interestingly, there is also a big contrast between the softness of the leaves and the harshness of the thorns. Nice job! #8519342Shelly A. Van Camp April 08, 2010

I see why you were fascinated with this, Nikki. For one thing, the color of the leaves is so unusual. And the background color is great with them. Really nice isolation of the branch here against it too. #8526317Sharon Day April 18, 2010

Very lovely Nikki, the colors work so well together! #8663776Bunny Snow June 03, 2010
That would look exquisite on my living room wall, as well, Nikki. The colors compliment each other and are of beautiful tonality. The branch gives the leaves of reason for being. I love the clarity, sharpness and details, colors and tonality. The is really a beauty. Desert Jewels is indeed a jewel of an image! #8663899Katarina Mansson June 03, 2010

I loved this, especially the colors, when I first saw it. The blue-green and the rust color of the walls make for perfect complimentary colors. This gives me goose bumps because it's so lovely. #8935184Jane Holestine September 28, 2010
