Great title, Rita, as he looks likeDebbie E. Payne March 30, 2010
What a BIG guy he is. Zoo shots are always such a challenge with the midday sun. I'm thinking you might be able to lessen the shadow across his front but it'll never go away. Am anxious to hear what everyone else has to say. What is he looking at anyway? The colors are gorgeous. #8498794Michael Kelly March 30, 2010
Good title and comp Rita. I would soften this as much as you can without causing problems. Shadow and highlight both adjusted as far as you can with out showing artifacts. #8499003Dale Hardin March 31, 2010
Nice capture Rita and the title is perfect. Mike's suggestions should bring out the best in this shot. #8500577Teresa H. Hunt March 31, 2010
Great shot Rita! Especially for harsh afternoon sunlight. His expression is very cool.I think Mike's suggestion is a good one . . . #8500851

Orangutan are one of the funniest to see at the zoo Pete... they are big fellows. here is mike suggestions. #8501111Anthony L. Mancuso March 31, 2010
Cool shot Rita, looks like he is ready to deck someone..(Right turn Clyde)Not sure the edits are what Mike had in mind Rita, decreasing the shadows should open up the face, but it looks darker.
If you shot this in RAW I would re-open in the RAW editor and increase the exposure to brighten the face as much as you can without causing noise in that area. Then open in the PS editor and put the posted image over the exposure adjusted one and erase (or use a mask) over the shadowed areas. #8501173

Definitely needs shadows opened more. Starting with the image as first posted, a simple shadows/highlights adjustment should do it. 25 for lighten shadows and 100 for darken highlights.Further detailed tweaking could enhance it more but this will do nicely. #8501619
