The Fly!
Uploaded: March 24, 2010
Photographed with a scanning electron microscope in 1980 at the University of South Carolina. During my grad school days in biology, I had the good fortune of access to an electron microscope and a kindly professor who would let me play with the equipment. I thought the image title captured the 1950's scifi feel of this fearsome beast. Image scanned from a 4x5in negative and processed with levels, unsharp mask and the background darkened with selective levels and gaussian blur in Photoshop CS.

Thanks everyone for your kind remarks. I wish I could go back in time to my days in the EM lab. During my year there I photographed bugs, bird feathers, sand dollars, pollen and anything else I could get into the scanner. Sadly I could only find a couple negatives from that time. #8490614Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
