Okay, here goes... I have been wanting to comment on your gallery photos, but I have felt a little intimidated because you're a professional, and I'm just a muddler. I will give you my honest opinion on what I "see and feel" though.

I love this shot, because of the great composition, lighting, texture in the walls, marbley colors, shadows, lines and beautiful sky!

I really appreciate your comments and I am so sorry that I did not see this until now.

The Carmel Mission is a fantastic subject! You are right - the textures alone are worth investing a lot of time photographing there.

The other trick with this image is the use a polarizing filter - that was essential to get those blues in the sky.
