Description

ScarBack, at your service. Available for candid portraiture, (nearly) every Saturday morning at the park. I'm the most stable fella out here (in other words, I've learned to sit very still). My services aren't cheap (Diamond Brand walnuts, at a minimum), but who wants a cheap squirrel portrait, anyway.

To give you a sense of how close I am, this was shot with a 105 macro (full frame sensor, so no conversion factor). Nothing was cropped off the left, top, or bottom...just the right side. I've also got photos taken that day where his head takes up half the frame (alas, he was horribly backlit, so much of the detail was lost). #1242292

I am surprised it doesn't have its little hand out for some more Diamond Brand walnuts! LOL :) Is he putting on weight? This is as all of your shots are Tess, and exceptional shot with wonderful detail. Great job! #8411872

It surprises me how cooperative they can be when they know food is coming their way...I have two that will take a pecan from my hand...Love little Scarback - beautiful detail - worth every penny of a portrait sitting! As always, Tess - a wonderful capture! #8411946

Thanks for the great comments, everyone!

Indeed, Valarie. They're extremely bright creatures. ScarBack is one of at least a dozen squirrels that will come up and take nuts from my hand. Several of them will actually sit at my feet and start eating!

On this particular day, I caught ScarBack attempting to get into my camera bag when I wasn't quick enough with my 'payment. #8412065
