This is beautiful Rita. The wind adds so much to this shot. I like the darkness at the bottom. Wow! soooo cold!!! #1231518

Jeff E Jensen January 27, 2010

This was worth the effort Rita! I love the back-lighting on the foreground plants. Well done! #8334142

Dale Hardin January 27, 2010

Rita, back lit shots are one of my favorites and you've done this one proud. Now get out of the cold, grab a hot chocolate and relax. #8334357

Debbra Bailey January 27, 2010

This is gorgeous Rita! I love the sunstar :) #8334413

Christie R. Bielss January 27, 2010

Ditto everything said above! Love, love, love it! Did I mention I love it?! #8335027

Teresa H. Hunt January 27, 2010

Rita, this is beautiful. I love backlight photo's. I can't believe you went out in cold like that. But it was worth it. :) #8335163

Rita K. Connell level-classic January 27, 2010

thank you so much you all made it worth going out in the cold for. And let me tell you it was really cold did I say....cold but we haven't had much sun and I was determine to get a winter sunset. here is one more that I took in the 10 minutes I was out in it. #8336038

Anthony L. Mancuso January 27, 2010

Beautiful image Rita, I love the rays of the sun shining through the plants... #8336056

Michael Kelly level-classic January 27, 2010

Both are excellent and are keepers though they each have very different feel. Is it not amazing that two shots of almost the same subject shot at almost the same time feel so different.

Wonderful work! #8336175

Jodi M. Walsh January 28, 2010

gorgeous images Rita! you certainly earned some hot cocoa with these #8337364

Jeanine M. Bailey January 28, 2010

I THOUGHT I commented on this yesterday!! I LOVE it!!! Beautiful lighting!! A shot SO WORTH the cold!!! :) #8337439

Anthony L. Mancuso January 28, 2010

The new one is nice, but could use some more DOF, although I'm sure you weren't going to hang around long enough to set up your tripod and freeze your toosh off...still love the first one.. #8337950

Joan E. Hoffman January 28, 2010

LOL... wow at first I thought those were palm trees, and judgeing from the wind, thought you MUST be on South Padre Island! LOL... then read the temps! Beautiful, beautiful shots Rita. My preference is the first, but had I not seen it would have loved the second equally #8337960

Rita K. Connell level-classic January 28, 2010

thanks Mike it is amazing how different just minute with the sun dropping fast, can give you different pictures. trust me when I say minutes. LOL...
thanks Jodi and Bean, I did come in and have a cup of hot choc. and Tony my toosh was freezing and the wind was really blowing and just wouldn't let me get it any better on the second shot.
and Joan you are so funny at that moment I wish I had been on a beach.LOL #8338443

Rita K. Connell level-classic January 28, 2010

oh by the way hugs and kisses to all of you for not making do any adjustments I believe this is only the third time I made this achievement yea!!!!! #8338452

Debbie E. Payne January 29, 2010

Yep! No need for any adjustments. Just a perfectly lovely shot. Good luck in Round 2 with this one. I love the motion in this shot as well as the tones and really, just everything. #8339743

Dianna Murphy January 29, 2010

Lovely light, well worth the cold! #8340000

Peter W. Marks January 29, 2010

Oh dear!, Rita. I so wanted you to make each of those stalks of pampas grass more upright, crop an eigth of an inch off the right hand side of the image, crank up the saturation by +2, do a small adjustment in levels; add an adjustment of +4 to mid-tone contrast and alter the tone width to 3%.
There, now it's really perfect! lol
But do I still get just a little hug and perhaps a tiny peck on the cheek? #8340355

Teresa H. Hunt January 29, 2010

Rita, I really love your second shot. Though it could use a little more DOF I think it has some charm just the way it is. :) #8340631

Susan M. Reynolds level-addict January 29, 2010

What an beautiful photo and so worth braving the cold!
I love the sun star rays reaching out as if to grasp hold of and keep the day from slipping away....the darkness of the foreground lends to that feel too.
A well deserved EP here! #8340964

Rita K. Connell level-classic January 29, 2010

oh no not until you take it all back and tell me again what an awesome job I did....LOL then I will included you in my hugs and kisses..... #8341084

Peter W. Marks January 30, 2010

With age comes humility so I take it all back Rita.
This is a beautifully conceived and executed image and I would think it would be worth splashing out a few bucks for a big enlargement ( say 16x20) then a wide matt and a plain frame.
Here's a question for all our friends. Do any of you print and frame any of your best shots as fine art images. I am not thinking of those of our kids which of course we all hang on the wall or have on our desks?
I am wondering if Aimee might consider this for a month's project. Each of us show the image we either have framed or would like to have framed. #8341447

Anthony L. Mancuso January 30, 2010

I have not framed any of my own prints other than the ones of my kids. I have had a couple acquaintances buy some prints though. #8341576

Rita K. Connell level-classic January 30, 2010

I have sold many of my prints I am proud to say that I have a resturant with 30 and office 4 and I have had two clients that has 15 and 20 pictures in thier home and truely at my husband insisting I have a gallery wall in my formal living room, as well as other places in my home. it took some coaching to get me to flip over to my pictures but now I really do enjoy seeing them and I just change them when I take a picture I like better. Plus believe or not... I have sold quite a few pictures from people seeing them in my home. Plus when anyone gets married now I give them a frame picture and that has also given me more opportunity to sell more pictures. #8342082

Dale Hardin January 30, 2010

I'd love to do some printing Peter, but do not have a single space in my house to display them. However, I did print and frame 10 images for my grandson to hang in his new home in Florida, at his request. Turned out very well. #8342198

Teresa H. Hunt January 30, 2010

I don't usually print and frame my stuff. Though I'd really like to. I have several images in my home I'd like to update.
I did just print, matte and frame my photo of the grapes that got a finalist a couple weeks ago. It looks really good framed. But I didn't keep it. I donated to a school fundraiser auction. Also donated a portrait session. I thought it'd help get my name out there.

Rita, how did you get into selling your prints to resturants and offices. That's something I'd really like to do, as well as portraits. :) #8342331

Joan E. Hoffman January 30, 2010

Living in 400 odd (probably emphasis on the odd part) sq ft for the last 7 years, does not make printing, framing and hanging an option. However, George and Jeanette did have their Ruby Red Corvette from a couple of years ago, framed and hung! The only thing I had framed and hung, was this.... in Honour of Dale and my my perpetually crooked landscapes! #8342467

Peter W. Marks January 30, 2010

Hey Dale, do you see that we are bringing out the comediennes in the ladies now?
#8342688

Susan M. Reynolds level-addict January 30, 2010

Congratulations on your EP, Rita...had a feeling one would be coming on this one! #8342750

Susan M. Reynolds level-addict January 30, 2010

Love your "For Dale" why your horizons are not straight ~ Nice to get a laugh after a long night!!! #8342777

Joan E. Hoffman January 30, 2010

LOL... Peter this was posted in '06! Dale DID teach me to keep it all much more level, and for that I really thank him.... in addition for everything else he taught me. This was just a bit of fun... and actually... the only framed art (at the time) in my limited space!!!! Now I have NONE... need to deal with that! #8342856

Michael Kelly level-classic January 30, 2010

Congratulations Rita!

Peter I print and frame lots of my work. I have what has turned from a 3 month show into a semi permanent one right now and probably will replace it with new shots. I have lost several of my sales venues to the economy but when things pick up I hope to get a little more of my work out again. #8343012

Rita K. Connell level-classic January 30, 2010

teresa, its called a friend of friend for the resturant, and the office, the friend really liked my picture and told the friend about me. I am thinking I am going to try to go into a couple of doctors office this spring if I can get my act together. #8343023

Rita K. Connell level-classic January 30, 2010

mike I take it that when you say show it is on display someplace. tell us a little more I have wanted to put mine on a display show but not sure how to go about doing it #8343115

Jeff E Jensen January 30, 2010

I have several of my images printed and either mounted or framed. Some are hanging up, some are in a pile, having recently moved. One of these days I'll get around to hanging them back up. #8343324

Aimee C. Eisaman January 31, 2010

This is a gorgeous shot Rita! I'm so glad you braved it! Congrats on a well deserved EP! :~) #8345671

Michael Kelly level-classic January 31, 2010

Rita I have a number of my framed shots on display at the Headquarters of a local Credit Union. Originally they were to be up for three months and then replaced with another artist - I followed a water color artist. However they have kept them for almost 7 months now and want me to follow myself with a new set of prints.

We had a local bird shop (selling seed, birdbaths, and feeders, etc) where a number of bird shots were on display, but they have now gone out of business as have some specialty gift shops. Hope they will be replaced when the economy turns. #8345683

Rita K. Connell level-classic February 01, 2010

Mike how wonderful what a great opportunity I would love to get into something like that. To be honest I like that I sell my work (thats a bonus) but really what is more important to me is just sharing my pictures with others that they get to see what I saw at the moment I took the picture, or giving a person a moment of the "I remember when" if you know what I mean. I am so thankful for all the beauty that surrounds us. #8346961
