Portrait of an Ancient Breed

Uploaded: January 04, 2010

Description

This is the face of a Scottish Highlander cow, the oldest known domesticated breed of cow. They are well equipped with large horns, a heavy coat that protects from weather, and even eye lashes that keep flies and bugs from the eye. They forage better than other cows and can live in sparce pastures and forest land. Their beef is supreme, but they grow slowly, so they are not raised for commercial use. (Adjusted in Photoshop CS3. Shot using a monopod and a Canon EF70-300mm lens.)

Ted, Love the Scottish Highland my son has a herd. I really like the lighting in this image, nice and soft like the Scottish themselves.
