A Wild and Rugged Coast

Uploaded: December 20, 2009

Description

This photo attempts to capture the rocky, treacherous coast of Oregon in its raw, natural beauty. A large wave is crashing into the huge shore rocks throwing sea spray high into the air, against a misted backdrop of steep cliffs and towering sea stacks. Huge Sitka spruce and fir trees are perched precariously at the edges of the cliffs, which along with other vegetation give the scene a green aura, despite the harsh environment and the torturing winds that they constantly battle. This is the southern coast of Oregon at its wildest, even though there are also long expanses of wide sandy beaches tucked between the rocky cliffs and shorelines. The combined beauty and power of nature in this scenic yet forboding place brings a potent feeling of respect… and of reverence.
