Snapped but Safe

Uploaded: November 28, 2009

Description

This very ordinary looking duck is actually a very caring mother, she was herding her ducklings together and "snap" a horrid noise was heard, under the water was a huge eel, luckily he missed his prey and I "snapped" this image whilst she and her babies were hiding close to the bank. Many a duckling or leg is lost or damaged to the eels.

Beautiful duck portrait Barbara. We both got a fright when we heard that snap and then we saw that eel and her and her babies had a really lucky escape. #1211883
