The Pumpkin Patch, Oregon
Uploaded: October 20, 2009
Ever wonder where all those pumpkins come from for Halloween and that pumpkin pie? This is just a small patch in an area with much larger fields. I shot this field to keep the sun behind me. Most of these pumpkins will run 20 to 40lbs but my sister-in-law had several that was closer to 600lbs. They were sold and gone before I could get a shot of them, maybe next year.
Have a Great Day

hey wait a minute. These aren't strawberries! What gives???:D
600 lbs, Denny? I can't even imagine that. Must take a cup of miracle grow per day to produce something of THAT magnitude???
I wonder who buys them and displays them? Do you know?

Laura, I do not know where these 600lb pumpkins went but they are grown for contests in the western US. I know of some that get over 1000lbs. They are a specialty pumpkin grown on pallets so they can be moved later by forklift. It all started years ago as a novelty with radiated seeds. Over the years they reproduced from their own seeds and now are grown for the contests. I guess they are edible because they talk about how many pies they will make..LOL..And that's the rest of the story..hehe #8511804Laura E. Swan April 06, 2010
