In Pavillion on Wonderful Sunny Day

Ok now what?

first, all you people who understand settings ... I want to know ... IF I had control over all the settings ... what would have been the best setting?

We were in a large pavillion (well shaded) and the weather was a beautiful sunny sunny day. It was always a focus factor. I took over the shutter speed as the auto focus was unable to figure out the whole situation.

then, from ALL of you, I just need to know the visual impact in general.

This is the beginning of a new obsession. I never thought I could be any good at shooting people at an event but ... oh ... I had a blast ... they had a blast ... we had a blast!

This is the only one I can share though ... the rest all have faces ... and really ... are very intimate ... to the point that I feel I invaded their privacy ... but I think they will forgive me ... as long as they can have a copy.

It was amazing ... I knew very few people ... but they all knew I had a "nice" camera ... and they were suspicious and stiff and ... on top of that it was a multiple blending of current and ex-families and people that were and weren't speaking.

Then as the party wore on people started to relax and in their units they were so sweet to each other. And they were still somewhat aware of me ... but they stopped caring and let go of tracking me ... but some flirted with the camera and some joked with the camera!

Well except there was this one guy I had to delete over and over and never managed to get a good a pic ...and I remembered why he's my ex! LOL ... but I got a great one of his new wife.

Oh ... Miss Emma is my future granddaughter!

OK YES I'm high as a kite. I got this picture because I was trying to get a picture of Em's other grandparents ... and all of a sudden someone sat these packages right down between me and them and filled the frame just like it is. I thought "Well! let's just see what happens next." Refocused and waited ... and out shot Em's hand ... and I snapped!

LOL

THANK YOU
THANK YOU
THANK YOU
THANK YOU

I would have never tried ... I always let everyone else take the bday shots ... except you people are such a huge example and encouragement!!

Have FUN!

Thanks Sharon ... Pray tonight and tomorrow ... My son is proposing to that little hand's mommy tomorrow ... I want both her and her daughter in my family ... but there's much confusion right now ... including a court battle for the little hand.

The title should really be "Mommy, what does this one say?" She Had to know what each card said. It was so funny!

have fun,

The thumbnail certainly said "open". And then the picture looked like it was well worth taking some time over. I agree with Sharon it says "excitement" and "which one shall I open first". Great commentary too Pam! I wish them all well. #1379906

Thanks Kate,

Enjoyed your input on all my pics and I really enjoyed browsing around your gallery this afternoon.

I held off as long as possible to reply to this one ... hoping i'd have news. but ... sigh ... it's now nearly 9pm and I am still in the dark ;)

I'm kind of assuming it's bad manners to text message your son when there's a marriage proposal underway.

have fun,

WooWHoo ... she's OFFICIALLY going to be my granddaughter ... Her Momma said YES OF COURSE!

I didn't find out until this a.m. of course. LOL

Okay ... back to the Photograph ... This is the Original. Did you miss the over-bright man in the back?

AND HEY HEY HEY all you real photographers who use real cameras ... What are the best settings to use in this situation? I will have a "real SLR" camera. I will!

and uhhh is it okay for the mother of the groom to hide behind a camera?

have fun,

Congratulations on your new granddaughter. She has a cute hand. Definitely best that you cloned out the man. I guess this beginner would say that you would need some speed to catch a child's hand so I would put it on speed priority. You are lucky you have an fstop of 3.1. My D70 only goes to 4.6 (I think!!). Certainly I could often use a wider aperture. #1385593

Thanks Kate,

I have a wonderful picture of Emma but I had just shot something really bright ... and then turned in time to see her ... in the shadows ... and I clicked before the camera had time to refocus ...

i've managed an almost save of it ... I think it will be good enough to produce a 4x6 ... if I get a really great save from it, i'll post it to the forum and tell how.

have fun,

Pam this picture has an element of surprize like what in the package.

Could be a wonderful birthday image for a family treasure.

Alright ... One year later ... Unbelievable!!

On May 28, 2006 My son married his sweetheart and on the 25th they were awarded custody of her daughter ... the owner of this sweet little hand!

Have fun,
