Okay, I did some playing around with textures this morning and came up with these. Comments? Helpful hints? All welcome. #1171215

Great work with textures Debbie! I don't care for the first one very much. I think if you are going to apply text texture to an entire image the DOF should be a closer match throughout the image than it is here. I find the very soft areas in the background a distraction because the words seem blurred in that area even though I know they are not.

I love your second image.....really modern and artsy....goes along well with some of your other works of digital art! Great title too! :~)

The third one is very nice as well although I would have liked to have seen it with the texture erased off the flower entirely and with more of the texture stretched to the left side to give it a more even feel.

You do wonderful work with cone flowers! #7877790

Debbie, I love the first one. Where did you find that texture? I think the second one is really cool. Very grungy. I'm not a huge fan of the 3rd one. I think Aimee may be onto something. If you streatch the texture across the whole photo and erase it off the flower, it might work better. :) #7877824

Okay - both of you..tell me how you erase it off the flower. I tried doing that but it wasn't working for me. Usually, my art history brush works but didn't seem t work this morning, so I'm not sure what I am doing differently than before. #7877900

Are you making sure your texture is a separate layer from your image? You must have your original and a separate texture layer to be able to erase the texture off the image. Once you have two layers you can select the texture layer and use the eraser tool. #7877920

Makes sense to me. Tried it with a duplicate layer and it worked fine. Example: #7878052

I like the firest one but I would go back and clone out the pink flowers and make them green like the bottom I don't think you would have to do it perfect because of the texture you are putting over. Juicy is very artsy as Aimee said really like it. all alone I agree with Aimee comments. Great job Debbie really like all of them. #7878056

I think this is a personal preference thing. I Really like Juicy as the treatment seems to fit the subject perfectly. It has a real art feel and looks great. Wile the other two look OK they don't grab me at all. I am thinking this is due to no real tie between the subject and the texture treatment. Your last post is also very good and I like it in second place to Juicy. #7878781

#2 is my fav. I find text really distracting especially when I can read it because I want to know how it relates...

the last one I didn't care for either. I also wanted it to not be over the flower.

looks like you are having fun :-) #7878969

Debbie, I love the last post! #7879189

Yeah Debbie NO seams!!!!!!
I love the second and your last post, where did you find that texture, of did you make it? I am not a fan of the first one but I am not a fan of words, yet I can see that it could be very effective in some cases.
Perfect work!!!! #7879691

Your last post is beautiful too! :~) #7879869

Thank you all. I think textures can be a hard line to walk. You not only have to pick a texture that compliments the image but you have to make it strong enough to be effective and soft enough to not compete with the image. Lots to think about. I'll keep on experimenting. #7880346

I thought it was really interesting that "Juicy" was only one of three or four entries this month that DIDN"T get an EP. Wonder what they didn't like. I got more than enough but thought that this one might make it. There is no accounting for what the judges like, is there? #7910015

I really liked juicy. Maybe the bright orange area toward the bottom was too much? Just a thought....really who knows? :~) #7910892

Thank you, Pat. I liked this one, too so I was glad to see it made it this time around! How are you doing? Any chance you might come back to Phellos one of these days? #8140607

Great job with the texture, it creates a wonderful effect well suited to the image. Very cool! Congrats on the EP :) #8140700

Thank you Christina - I am a newbie with textures and so far am self-taught and just learning as I go. #8199800
