WOW, this looks like fun in a gorgeous scene... and bet that water is cold!? I agree with Michelle...to be young again... not sure I would like the rush of the start though...the smooth even ride is my type...not white water rush!!! Awesome image, Laura. 8o) #7807671Nadya Johnson August 02, 2009
Oooooh, this looks HEAVENLY! What a stunning turquoise color! I would LOVE to be there!! Not sure I'd want to be in charge (as in, the Sole Pilot of the raft!) but depending who was on the trip and on their river-savvy... "In a minute!" I still want to do the Colorado! These days, in view of what Michelle said, probably with a guided group. I can even do without the hot water! But I wouldn't want to flip under in a class 4 rapids and I know I wouldn't be as good at rowing as I used to be. Oh well. I can dream! This is just GORGEOUS, Laura! #7807911Ann Coates August 02, 2009
Breathtaking scenery here Laura. I remember just sitting in the raft during the calm part of the journey and just taking in the peacefulness and beauty. Beautiful Laura. #7807927Laura E. Swan August 02, 2009
I've enjoyed your comments very much guys! Thanks so much for taking time to enjoy this one and dream with me!You know, my favorite part (after that rush of the starting point) truly is the peacefulness of the float. There is a certain calm there that a person has to feel in person to appreciate it. The only sounds are the water, the wind, and the birds.
The air is so fresh and I think I smile just about the whole time while taking it all in, looking around.
Being quiet is really good for a persons life and soul. I truly believe this. We might chatter away and have fun here on BP but things like float trips and sitting in nature are really amazing.
I hope all of you are finding this peace and quiet time in some way in your own lives, too!
Thank you all very much for each thing you said here. Funny, entertaining, serious and otherwise! :)

WOW, the water looks deep and really cold, I hope you had a wet suit on just in case. In 70 degree and colder water it takes only a short while for hypothermia to set in:'water temperature of 10 °C (50 °F) can be expected to lead to death in approximately 1 hour, and water temperatures hovering at freezing can lead to death in as little as 15 minutes'
I assume that water is near freezing and I would have a full wet suit on, be careful, from Kayaker! #7808057

Thank you Jack. You are very kind to give me this info. What I love about rafting as it's not like a Kayak or Canoe. They dont flip easily at all. You can bring your ice chest and have lunch and not worry AT ALL during the calm parts. It's like your own floating island when it's just two people. Not crowded at all...We use a 6 man raft. PLENTY BIG.GRANTED I do most of the hard work because I man the front of the raft so I do a lot of digging, turning, cranking my head backwards while Dale relaxes at the back, laying back looking at the sky! HA! I KID YOU NOT! (sigh!)
But -that- is THE REST of the STORY! No need for you have have that visual! It really is very safe and worth it.
Life jackets are on..fast drying clothes in place & easy to swim in and islands to take refuge on if we do fall in! We wear water shoes and the whole bit. We are prepared.
Please don't worry. No one will turn into a Popsicle! I promise!
