Description

These old grain drills were the idea of planting wheat faster than by hand by brothers Daniel C. and George W. Brunt. The year was 1860, when they produced seven of these seeders. The next year, 60 more. By 1866, the total exceeded 4,000. At about that time, brother George left the business. Brother Daniel took over aggressively until his death in 1901. Daniels son, Willard, took over the business a few years later.
Not only did the company continue to prosper under his leadership, but he invented and developed many devices which more firmly established it as the world's leading grain drill factory, both as regards quality and volume.
As more farmers learned to say "Van Brunt" when they spoke of grain drill quality, so did it become more inevitable that the Deere & Co. merger of 1911 should include the Van Brunt Manufacturing Co.
Although not used anymore, they remind us of life long ago.

Thank You ALL!!
I appreciate your continued support
and wonderful comments!!
Busy day here...will get caught up
in commenting as soon as possible!!

Yes, the history behind these drills
was quite interesting to me as well.
But, it doesn't suprise me that
John Deere & Co. eventually bought
this small company out at one time.

THANKS AGAIN!!!!

HAVE A GREAT NIGHT!!!
