Description

J.C. Nicholes Fountain at the Plaza in Kansas City. The fountain was transported to K. C. from Long Island, NY and refurbished in 1960. The fountain has four equestrian figures which are said to represent four rivers: the Mississippi, the Volga River, and the Seine and Rhine rivers. This image was taken at dusk while there still remained some light and color to the sky. The idea was to contrast the complimentary colors of the stark cold equestrian figure against the gold hue of the Plaza lighting and the blues of the early evening sky.

Craig, I've been going through your gallery and simply blown away by your gorgeous landscape images! This particular image caught my eye because I spent my childhood in this area. My doctors office was here at the Plaza and we spent every holiday here at the Plaza because it was transformed for the children! Your timing on the lighting is beautiful, your mission was accomplished! #1304659
