I like your selective coloring in the photo. I've neer done it except once almost 3 years ago in a PS class and have forgotten how to do it...have to get out the class binder and re-learn it. So...I have a question that may make you some of you laugh at my ignorance, (you don't learn if you don't ask) but I have not done selective coloring except that once, so here goes: When you did the coloring on the boat, did the reflection automatically show in the water as blue or did you have to do it in the reflection too?
I don't think I've ever taken a photo with reflections...I think I need try that out after seeing this one.

Oh Gosh Susan, I have forgotten how I did this one! Unfortunately I am in the middle of packing and we leave for the airport at 9am tomorrow to fly to the UK, so my mind is totally scrambled. I think I just made a duplicate layer of the background layer, desaturated it of all color and made a mask then 'painted' in black the boat and reflection on this layer to reveal the color on the underneath layer.
I always have problems remembering PS techniques but I just Google something like "selective coloring in Photoshop" and there are dozens of tutorials.

Awe bless your soul! I never dreamed there would be PS tutorials on Google or You Tube. Now maybe I can try some of this cool stuff!
Have a safe and very relaxing time in the UK but don't be so relaxed you forget to take photos to show us! ;)
God bless you too!

I too love the selective colors. I will try it some time. This photo seems to be an excellent choice for the technique as is your other one. #7703399

Hmm I am out on a limb here, while I like the selective coloring I think the photo has too many white spots to be a black and white photo. I'd like to see the colored one when you sort your brain out :)
Have fun in the UK will you have internet access there or will we miss you for a month? #7704955

Thank you John and Meghan. I do take notice of all and any points of critique and your wish will be granted Meghan (you are a fiesty little miss aren't you!!) when I return Stateside at the end of the month.

I like the SC here, Pete. The blue is very nice with the gray tones and accentuates the lines of the boat very well. #7851489

Good morning and thank you Nikki.
This image was made last year when we were back in the old country. Last month we visited the same spot and the blue boat was still there but the tide was out so it was sitting on a thick layer of silty mud.
Thanks for visiting and your comments. Pete #7852077

Greetings Susie and thank you. I thought of you when we were on the train from Paddington to St Austell when we were back in the UK a couple of months back. As the train followed the coastline from Exeter through Dawlish and Teignmouth I was trying to remember where you lived and decided it was Lyme Regis or Sidmouth but I guess that was pretty close. I remembered your images of that part of the West Country.
