Praying for the Tide

Uploaded: June 11, 2009 09:12:05

Description

Very remote in Humboldt County
Northern California

Yes those are flies on this slowly dying starfish. Shot a few exposures to catch the bugs as sharp as could be and noticed a lot of movement while the starfish seemed to be stationary in front of me. I thought I would post something different than the usual starfish photo here. Sorry about not moving the big rock but I didn't want to disrupt the scene. I think that bright starfish is going to live to see the next high tide.

The style here is pretty documentary with a touch of art. Thanks for looking.

Nice! What a fantastic contrast between that orange starfish and his background. I also love the mist. I used to love throwing them back to sea. This photograph reminds me of this memory. #7620065

Hey Steve, great shot, and I like the way the starfish leads the eye through the scene, and I don't mind the rock at all. Beautifully done.

Outstanding scene of nature, Steve!
Great color and textures amongst this great comp.
