ISO 100 - Seattle CityScape - Night
Description: F2.8, 1/3, 85mm, Queen Anne, Night Cityscape, 9:15
I was not so much worried about depth of field in this shot, I wanted to reduce noise in the mostly dark composure.
After experimenting with ISO 100 and ISO 200 I determined that as long as I kept the exposure under 1 to 1.5 seconds the ISO 100 shot did not exhibit noise, or I should say any more noise than faster shots (I tried this with a f/1.2 lens at 1/15th and could see no real difference other than sharpness in the details - less )
The indicated shutter speed was 1/3 of a second well within my noise envelope, and since I had a tripod there was no reason to reduce quality, the tradeoff of using a higher ISO would have been counterproductive.
I composed this shot differently than the first, I also took some others with the more of the city on the left, but because of very powerfull halogen lights on a building below the lower left corner was getting washed out, so I choose this one instead.
