better...still have a few days to practice till full moon (april 24th).

Still wondering if ISO 1600 is too high. I shoot an eclipse with ISO 100 and it turned out OK.

What was the actual setting for shutter speed and apperture?

Looks a bit underexposed, try a shutter around 1/400-1/600. I don't have the info readily available but I believe the one in my gallery was 1/400 @ f/8, spot metered and shot with the anti-shock on and also using a cable release. ISO was 200 for sure. On a tripod and shot with Tamron 70-300mm lens. I plan to upload another one tonight that I shot last night with the Nikon 300mm f/2.8...amazing difference. #1281371
