Kestrel Attack
Uploaded: May 24, 2009
We have a Kestrel house attached to the second story of our house. This is the second year in a row they have occupied it and raised a family. This year they are very protective and have started to attack us if we are in the yard. Hard to get a good photo when ducking and hitting the ground, but here is my most successful attempt to date.

Well you did a outstanding job on this capture. It is full of wonderful color and crisp detail, and I love the way the wings are. #1132222Michelle Alton May 24, 2009
What a brilliant success, Michael1 He's so majestic, and passionate about his protective duties. #7553689Michael Kelly May 24, 2009
Susan and Michelle thank you both most humbly for your kind words and encouragement. These wonderful birds are so much fun to watch - just near impossible to photograph. #7553773Melissa G. Meiselman May 24, 2009
Outstanding shot of this magnificent bird in flight with a great sense of composition, vivid color and sharp detail, Michael!! #7553877Michael Kelly May 24, 2009

Beautifully captured! #7553953Thomas E. Hinds May 24, 2009
Incredible detail and color here! Great work! #7554128Michael Kelly May 25, 2009
Liz and Thomas I thank you both for taking the time to comment. It means a lot that you enjoyed the photo enough to let me know. It is a scary thing to have a screaming hawk coming at you (even a small one), but the nice reception for the shot makes it worthwhile. #7555576Aimee C. Eisaman June 08, 2009
Wow this is really impressive! So much detail even though you were being attacked! This looks like a large hawk! Hard to believe that it is the size of a robin. Congrats on your EP! :~) #7609019Michael Kelly June 08, 2009
Thanks so much Aimee - this was the top of the turn with him getting ready to come at me with another pass. #7609031Dianna Murphy June 09, 2009
