Esther, you inspired me :-)Michael Kelly May 12, 2009
Excellent Jodi, BG and subject are beautifully done. Just a bit too much negative space for this one I think. I would like to see it centered in a square crop. All the rest looks good to me. #7514324Jodi M. Walsh May 12, 2009
thank you Michael. I thought about the square crop and thought I would copying Esther's too much :-) actually, I kept this crop to give it a little more of a "waiting" feel trying to imply that Sadie might be coming from the left very soon.but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work :-) #7514328

As always, I am only one opinion - see what others think before a change. #7514334Jodi M. Walsh May 12, 2009
oh, no problem - I just was eager to share my thoughts, since I actually had some :-). in a silly mood tonight and still very excited about the camera #7514337Anthony L. Mancuso May 13, 2009
Like the blurred background and the neg space doesn't bother me so much but I would've like to seen a little more DOF on the white floatie things.. #7515507Debbra Bailey May 13, 2009
Jodi - I laughed out loud at your title. So so true. I immediately envisioned my own girls and what they would do if they saw this perfect dandelion.... :) #7515520Peter W. Marks May 13, 2009
Ah! So it's Sadie who has been blowing these seeds all over our yard! I have never seen so many dandelions but now, knowing she has so much fun with them perhaps I will just learn to live with them and forget the weed-killer.Debbra Bailey May 13, 2009
Jodi, when Sadie gets up, you could take shots of her blowing the dandelion and call it The Wait is Over :) lol #7515978Dale Hardin May 13, 2009
Must admit I didn't understand the title until the thread explained all. That being the case the negative space seems appropriate. The DOF focus is good except for the 'focus' part. Would like to see more detail and a more defined focus.Love Deb's idea. would make a good series. :o) #7516582

You have dandelions downtown too???? LOLJodi M. Walsh May 13, 2009
thank you guys for you suggestions on this. i'm still figuring out how to focus this new lens. I also wondered if I needed a higher ISO to have gotten a faster shutter speed. this was actually waving a little bit in the breeze as I snapped.i'm having a crazy week but i'm hoping to try a shot with sadie sometime soon :-) #7517488

Jodi there may be a hint of motion blur here and you might get it more tack sharp with a bit more shutter speed. More of an issue is getting enough DOF on a round object like this in which you can see the other side. So I would say go for a higher f stop first and then shutter speed to stop very slight motion. #7517508Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
