Description

First I have been away from BP way to long and hope to be getting back as I can. We have had some major health issues on the Border of recent. I was in the bull arena again at the George Paul Memorial Bull Ride and on the first night Jarred Craig completed an 8 sec ride for 89 points on a mean bull called Hausta Luego. After being bucked to the ground after the ride the bull hooked him between the groin and tossed him high in the air (I caught this capture on his way up and off the horns. After he fell back to the dirt Hausta Luego again attacked him in the arse with his horns but was saved by the bull fighter Jesse Byrne and Matt Baldwin. This was taken at night with canon 5D, at 115 mm, F/6.3 and 1/500 sec with ISO1000 handheld in RAW.
I got hooked 3 times the next day by a mean bull "Lock the Trigger" but escaped with little injury. Jarred Craig had his groin ripped out of his pants but escaped major injury and made a 86.5 point ride the next night. Your comments

I feel terrible for this poor animal. It's not the bull who is mean, it is these savages who taunt him. If they got injured, it serves them right. There should be an end to barbaric "sports" such as this. #1124811

Sorry you feel that way these bulls are naturally wild and are very valuable. They are protected on open ranches, have mates, are well cared for and enjoy their life. The only animals to get hurt are the two legged ones that get in their way. My wife always roots for the bulls which usually win anyway. The sport is just part of life in the west and West Texas. #7499930

Hi Laura, Can you imagine any man wanting to bust his balls riding one of these 1000 plus pound wild bulls for 8 seconds just to make money. Here in Texas these bulls are worth a million dollars apiece easily. We just lost "Walk this Way" from a rare pneumonia but still a young bull with only one successful ride on him in 5 years. He was valued at about 3 million dollars and what a loss to one of my patients and local rancher. #7500828
