I HOPE YOU'LL JOIN ME IN A CUP OF TEA

Uploaded: April 24, 2009

Description

What I wouldn't give now that I'm older to sit down to a lovely cup of tea with my mom and my grandmother. This was my grandmother's Bavarian china and her lace tablecloth; a good memory of visiting grandma's house.

What a beautiful set....I just love tea cups....my mother has a lovely collection of them. She used to be into decorating victorian country style so they fit in perfectly, but now she has gone contemporary so they hang out in the china hutch just as a curiosity. The light in this shot is what grabs my attention. So inviting! Congrats on your EP! :~) #1201476

Thank you, Aimee. This is one that I had to enter twice to get it in. The black and white version got in on the first try. I love this china set and hope to pass it on to my daughter some day. #8109556

Sorry guys for waiting until the last day to find something for the challenge. The challenge for me was trying to find anything in time because the Internet in the middle of Amish country is SLOW and I could only find two still life's in my entire gallery -- that tells me something.... Plus, I am getting some kind of bronchial thing that might have me in bed by tomorrow. I., 'll give it my best today. Just don't critique my keyboarding skills on this portable device!! #10162722

Lovely Debbie and a memory hook for me. My Mom had quite a collection and I hope they haven't been thrown out. You've given me inspiration for a shoot on some rainy day. Might be a long wait here in Southern Calif. :o) #10163036

Well, the bright side is that once we get back to Cleveland Allison can prescribe drugs for me. I am feeling better sitting on this marvelous front porch in a rocker listening to the last songs of the birds before the sun goes down. No expansive sunset shot because we are encased in lush green trees.

Dale --I hope you can get hold of those teacups of your mom,s. I,d actually like to do a series. Something for winter-- that is if we have one this year. Last year was almost nil.

Sue , I think you should put it your flag girl back up. After all, BP thought it was fine and it is probably headed for bigger things. I certainly didn't mean to be harsh . I am remembering my row with someone over Sampson and I took him off as well. Don.t let us military types influence you. It really is a good image and a great project. #10163546

Congratulations on the EP. I like both of these, simple but lots of meaning and great light. #10163779

Really like how you got the same color pallete in the background as in cup. Nice job. #10163909

Looks like some fancy china Deb..I'm glad you have it as a reminder of your grandmother. I also like the how the bg colors mimic the cup. I personally think the teabag label detracts from the image because the writing and the bold green color draw attention. I would consider cloning out the words and desaturating the color... #10163929

love this...it simplicity is very nice. I also love the lighting and b/g mirroring the cup. I'm so excited we are having our 4 annual tea party with my daughters and grandaughters tomorrow. (actually its turning into a rock star luncheon this year) #10164461

Beautiful Debbie. I too love how the background colors compliment the tea set.

My Grandmother collected tea cups. I have one of her sets sitting on my bookshelf. All the girls in the family got a set after she died.

My sister and I bought my mom a table and chairs to have tea parties (with the granddaughters) for her birthday. We sat around drinking pink hot chocolate with the boys mimicing british accents, something Devin started. It was really fun. It was also the last thing we did with my family before the accident. #10166230

Rita -- Before I retire this thread, I have to ask...how was the rock star tea party. It sounds like so much fun. Post some pictures so we all can see.

Got home from Amish country sicker than a dog, stayed home at Allison's all day in and out of bed and today I actually felt like going to her fellowship farewell party. Two of them are staying in Cleveland and the other two are going to other hospitals. Was a nice event and I am apparently shaking off whatever it was I caught.

Teresa. I can just see Devin mimicking a British accent. I am so glad you shared this moment with all of us. #10167233
