OK guys, you can look AT this image and get all technical with me or you can look INTO the image and use your imagination to see yourself on this boat heading out from Mevagissey inner harbour for a day's pleasure-fishing off the southern coast of Cornwall. Share with me my nostalgia as now, 3000 miles from Mevagissey, a small fishing port near where I lived as a kid, I can hear the muted "tump, tump" of the diesel engine, smell the salt air and seaweed, hear the cries of seagulls perched on the ancient cottage roofs and know that God-willing it is only a few weeks before I shall be back there on vacation. #1113978Jeff E Jensen April 15, 2009
Hey Peter this is a great picture. I can definately see my self on that boat. Sounds like fun! #7408977Peter W. Marks April 15, 2009
Thanks Jeff. One of my sisters and her husband have a second home right beside the harbour here and my wife and I get back there every year. Beats staying at hotels!Ronald F. Fischer April 20, 2009
Wonderful use of SC on this beautiful image! #7424820Peter W. Marks April 20, 2009
That is so very kind of you Ronald.Lisa J. Boulden April 21, 2009
Lovely image, Peter!Peter W. Marks April 21, 2009
Thank you so much Lisa. I appreciate your comment.Vicki Snow April 23, 2009
LOL Peter you made me giggle on your take of selective color. I second your opinion!!! I think you did a great job here with this image. I myself have only done a couple of my images this way. I do appreciate a "proper" image done this way because of all the hard work it takes!!Dale Hardin April 23, 2009
Pete, it was good to make contact with you again. It's been a long time since I visited your gallery. Lost track somehow.I like the composition and setting of this shot. Also like your restrained use of selective color. I haven't found too many images of mine where it would work well. But it this shot it certainly does. #7441222

You are very kind Vicki, thank you! I think a laugh or a smile is way more important than a misplaced pixel or a crooked fence (You know what I mean? :D)Peter W. Marks April 23, 2009
Hi Dale! And good to reconnect with you too my friend and thank you for your generous comments. I think we all have trouble trying to keep contact when there are just so many super images and really nice people on BP. I wish I could afford to go on some of BP's get togethers but living as I do in central Illinois and flying back to England every year for a month I kind of use up all my cookie jar quarters.Nikki McDonald April 29, 2009
Absolutely agree with you on SC, Peter -- so hard to decide what to desaturate and what to bring the color back in. IMO, you did this one just right and it was your editing that first drew me to the image. You have a wonderful visit home, you hear? #7466219Peter W. Marks April 29, 2009
Thanks again Nikki. The air tickets have been bought and paid for and I'm itching to go. Life can be sweet when there are no hotels to be paid for and my elder sister lends me a car. #7466438Shelly A. Van Camp June 11, 2009
Beautiful capture! It caught my eye as Maine is my home. #7620988Peter W. Marks June 11, 2009
