Chevy Drivin' Texas

Uploaded: March 30, 2005

Description

Not part of the everyday series, but I shot this yesterday and wanted to get it in before the month was out. Used Flaming Pears' melancholytron, PSCS's sandstone texture, erased the edges, selectively colored back in the bluebonnets (our state flower).

You know, Texans are so arrogant we think the world revolves around us. I didn't think about the fact that Chevrolet may not use "Chevy drivin' Texas" to advertise in Maine, Penn., California and the rest of the US and the world.
That is my truck, on my driveway and those are my bluebonnets - shows how lazy I am - plant my own so I don't have to go somewhere to shoot them.
I thank you all for the wonderful comments on this shot. I love my truck so this is my wallpaper on my PC right now. Thanks again - Paul,Wally,Linda,K,Casey,Joannie,Karen,Don,Kara,Charlene,Tammy,Steve,Dado,Sanjay,Cindy,Judy,Dan,Stan and Noel. #1217520

That is the neatest picture! I love the rough and toughness of your truck and the delicacy of your lupine flowers (thats what we call those here in Colorado) The blue matches the plate perfectly! Great job Marsha LOVE THIS ONE!
I almost want to start belting out that song. I love my truck....'don't know all the words or who sings it' but can hum it quite good!!! #1218277

Marsha S. Smith March 31, 2005

Thank you Mata and Melissa(the bluebonnet is a variety of lupine, but the only lupine that will grow here as far as I know) #1218418

DiAnna F. Paulk April 14, 2005

Hi, Marsha. I'm at home sick today and am using the time to catch up on some unread email. Saw this is the BPC newletter and can't believe I missed it all the times I've visited your gallery! This is great! And congratulations on being featured in the newsletter! #1254042

Stephanie N. April 17, 2005

Great picture Marsha!!! I live in south Texas and totally agree with everything you said about Texans. I work at a truck dealership so I am around these kind of trucks all the time, I can relate to your love for them and for the beautiful blue pieses of heaven that we are proud to call ours. #1263358

Marsha S. Smith April 18, 2005

Thanks DiAnna and Stephanie - I think this is my personal favorite of the shots I have posted.
DiAnna - I have saved all the newsletters since I started at BP, but haven't read most of them yet so after someone told me that the truck was in the DD I went back and looked and I actually had another shot in there several months ago. I was sooo excited and flattered. #1263600

Lori Carlson April 28, 2005

Marsha I love this shot you creative girl!! And you make me miss my truck! sniff sniff. But aside from that I love love love what you did with it and the way you framed it all...just awesome! :0) #1301178

Marsha S. Smith April 28, 2005

Thanks Lori! It made it to the Digital Darkroom newsletter so I think I will resubmit it later in that category. I used in the monthly theme last month, but the competition was so awesome. I love my truck and I love bluebonnets and I love Texas - this was a way to combine the 3! #1301306
