Golden Slippers

Description

by Sara Lopez

Shot at Shark Valley, ENP, Florida. This snowy egret, although common amongst the many birds of the Everglades, is classy and elegant with her white plumage and golden slippers. Almost hunted down to extinction because of her pure white plumage, today she has rebounded and thankfully is a common, though beautiful, sight throughout the sloughs of the Everglades.

This is one of the prettiest, if not THE prettiest images of this lovely creature that I have seen here. The pose is so perfect and the composition is just spot on. Wonderful lighting - I didn't forget to say how much I like this did I? #1213189

WOW all!!! Thank you for your comments!! Your remarks have made my day! Thank God for cloudy overcast days! This is one of the prettiest egrets, in my humble opionion, with its golden slippers and beautiful plumage, albeit a bit on the temperamental and territorial side!! It is always a pleasure watching and photographing them! Thank you again!!!! #1214217
