Joan you seem to have a talent with food! I love the idea of this...so fresh! Was this an old shot that you decided to spruce up? I love the effect on the frame....what is that? :~) #1089788

Joan E. Hoffman 2/26/2009 6:20:12 PM

Yes, this is an old shot from last year, Remember the swirl thingy? Anyway have got a lot of mileage from a plate of citrus LOL.
The frame is actually an "instant artist" deal in Serif Photoplus called Munchist duplicated the original and applied it. Then I applied a mask and overlayed the original over the artistic version and played with the opacity. Thought it was kinda fun looking! #7219675

This looks so juicy and wonderful! YUM! Love the border and how it enhances the lines in the fruit. Really nice job on this. #7222035

Love the 'glazed' border. Seems to enhance how cool and refreshing the slices will be. Good Luck with this one. Esther #7222398

Joan, this is a wonderful shot. Love the fruit and its tones and texture. Also like the "frosted glass" border. I'm very familiar with Serif products, having used them for years and years. Since the frosted glass look works so well, why not complete the look by giving it the thickness of glass? Should be a fun exercise. #7222487

Joan E. Hoffman 2/27/2009 10:18:56 AM

Sounds Interesting Dale. You mean like bevel it, or buttonize it?? #7222671

Jodi M. Walsh 2/27/2009 10:34:00 AM

how fun! a very interesting effect. I actually wish the colors were just a little more vibrant. they seem a little dull but that could be my monitor. just my thoughts. great shot #7222729

Ellen H. Robertson 2/27/2009 7:02:46 PM

So talented. The fruit without any editing is a great picture. But what you did with it is just amazing. #7224119

Dale Hardin 2/28/2009 9:53:51 AM

Yes, that would work I think. I haven't done much border work but would think that a bevel or just a stroke would suffice. Button would not work.

I'd suggest applying the thickness only to two sides. Since your light is in the upper right, the edge would only show on the bottom and left. However, if you really want to complete the effect, input a soft shadow of the "glass" on the upper side and right.
Use your opacity on the bevel and shadow layers to keep the look as much like glass as possible. Good luck, it seems like a fun project. (don't forget that the area where the shadow will fall is not flat. Adjust the shadow to follow the contour)

By the way, I think your level of color is spot on. I wouldn't change it. On the other hand, the vibrant look as Jodi suggested could give you a whole new image. Try it. #7226034

Jodi and Ellen... Thank you so much for your comments!! I really appreciate them. Jodi, actually I purposely toned down the border for contrast purposes, however it looked pretty good too left a bit brighter.

Dale I will try your suggestions, I played around a bit with the bevel, but really like your idea of just the left and bottom. I will put it up when I finish it.

Christine! Thank you! That is a HUGE compliment!! I am in the process of starting a site, I will post the address when its ready! #7226490
