Thank you once again Chris.
Edwardsville, where we live is only a few miles from the Mississippi river and immediately acrosss it from St Louis, Mo. with which most folk are familiar. Alton is just twenty miles upstream on the Illinois side and I frequently drive there to watch bald
eagles in winter when the river partially freezes over and pelicans fishing in the outflow of the Melville Price dam and locks.
Not quite the Atlantic Ocean or the English Channel but the best we can do in the middle of the USA!
Cheers Chris. Pete #7175661

Hi Gina. Yes, even the muddy old Mississipi and a power station can look good in the right light. Many thanks #7259254

Splendid sunset, Peter -- love the yellows and golden brown tones. #7266756

Thank you so much Nikki. I purposely included the power-station in this image as so many sunset shots, both my own and other folk's, are pretty but don't seem to go deeper than that. Here, I wanted to show how one of the world's mighty rivers can be so peaceful and an indutrial building such as the power-station takes away nothing from this. Even the puffs of steam or smoke from the chimneys were drifting, oh so lazily skywards. As I sat on a tree stump letting it all soak in I found myself singing the opening bars of
"Up a lazy River by the old mill stream
That lazy, hazy river where we both can dream
Linger in the shade of an old oak tree
Throw away your troubles, dream a dream with me."
Thanks again Nikki. Pete #7271081
