February 2009-finalist

Title: Unexpected Landing
Entered: 2/8/2009
Category: Digital Darkroom

This Photo as you can see is highly manipulated and was meant to look creative and very unusual. The hot spots are intentional!!!! If you view this photo with a BG of black the lighting looks great but if you view this photo against a white BG, this makes the lighting look more like hot spots.

Exif: F Number: 4.5, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 5/300 seconds, Flash: fired, auto mode, return light detected, red-eye reduction mode, ISO: 200, FocalLength: 26.00 mm, Model: NIKON D40X

Tammy, wow, awesome image, regardless of how it was done. I saw a similar one about 5 years ago on here and it was first prize, hope you do. #7138244

Hey Thanks Stan and I am thrilled to see all positive responses so far....

Regardless, I am very excited about my creation and vision that went into this photo. It took me about an hour to pull this one off since I had to hand color the butterfly piece by piece which took a very steady hand and a lot of patients. BTW: I did not place the butterfly on my son's nose, that is just where the butterfly landed and stayed without moving when this little beauty escaped from her butterfly net and we were chasing her around the house...LOL....

Right now, I am liking Corel better than Adobe.... #7138433

Ken & Aimee: thank you both for you support and the time you took to offer your comments. I was not sure how you all would respond but happy to see that everyone came here with positive comments.

Ken thanks for your help and I took your advice via my personal e-mail and did make some changes.

I have another copy of this photo done differently if any one is interested in looking at the changes. The photos are under my album called new arrivals. #7140897

Ya know, when you view this photo against the black background, the hot spots (that are intentionl) do not distract and are not that noticable but if you view the photo against the white back ground the hot spots (as some may call them) are very noticable....Hmmmmm!!!!

Oh well, I entered the contest with the original and if it does not make EP then I will tweak with the photo some more until I get it right. #7141628
