Horseshoe Lake Panorama

Uploaded: October 18, 2008

Description

This is actually a 13 shot panorama showing the reason why Horseshoe Lake got its name, located in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Captured in mid-October with the larch above 6,000 feet all aglow in gold, approximately 7.5 miles in from the trailhead for Lake Stuart. (Note: The trail beyond Lake Stuart is not maintained, nor on the map.) Taken with a vertically handheld DSLR set at ISO 400 and f/8 using a wide-angle zoom lens (12 to 24). Then to bring out the shadow detail I converted the LDR (Low Dynamic Range) image to a HDR (High Dynamic Range) image. Entered into the “Nature & Landscapes” category and shared with the BetterPhoto Club: “Photographing the Northwest -- Hiking Club.”

GPS: Approximate location, latitude 47° 29' 35.51" N, longitude 120° 54' 29.33" W.

Exif: Flash: did not fire., ISO: 400,
