Stony Creek Sawmill
Uploaded: October 01, 2008
Greenfield Village is considered the largest outdoor museum in America. Nearly one hundred historical buildings were moved to the property from their original locations and arranged in a "village" setting. The museum's intent is to show how Americans lived and worked since the founding of the country.
The Stony Creek Sawmill in Greenfield Village is typical of the sawmills found in the late 19th and early 20th century. This sawmill was built in the Village in 1938 using some equipment from the Loranger Sawmill in Monroe, Michigan. The sawmill was used to provide lumber for building construction in the village.

Thanks Mary and Brett! I hesitated to put this in the MT -- if the judges don't read the description, it may not be evident why this is considered an 'exhibit'. Do you guys think it belongs in this category, or should I move it to Catch All? #6536832MELODIE C. ROBERTS October 01, 2008
