Thanks Steve and Margaret. Steve, the shutter speed on this one was 1/640s. I found that for hummingbirds in flight shutter sppeds of between 1/500 and 1/800s freeze the body motion but still leave motion blur in the wings.Margaret, I also was surprised about the fighting but having watched these guys for two weeks I can tell you that they fight constnantly using their claws and beaks.
