In 1932 International Harvester Company introduced an updated Farmall with a more powerful engine and improved four-speed transmission which received the designation F-20. The F-20 replaced the original Farmall which became known by the retronym "Regular" (after the introduction of the F-20). All Farmall tractors were painted "Battleship Gray" until the mid-1930s when a decision was made to change to the new color, "Farmall Red". When production finally ended in 1939 a total of 148,960 F-20 tractors had been built, breaking all previous records. The tractor weighed 4500 lbs. and came with steel wheels until 1936 when rubber tires became available. From 1924 until 1963, Farmalls were the largest selling row-crop tractors.
