Description

This is the last of my irrigation series...for now!
I caught the sun setting just out my
back door...
I thought I might give a little info also...
This system is 10 towers long,
and waters about 160 acres in a circle.
The amount of water that flows through
this is about 600 to 800 gallons per minute. Some systems pump more than that.
It is approx. 1/4 mile long. We have two irrigated fields that are side by side which is called a half section.
The little light on the top of the tower
comes on when the system is moving.
It can take up to a day and a half..I'm guessing to make a full circle.

Colleen...yes we do farm. We have approx. 3000 acres in which we raise mostly wheat...although we also grow corn, sorghum (milo) and soybeans.
Currently under this irrigation system we are growing soybeans that will be harvested this fall.

Wow, this is beautiful! Thanks for farming...it is a very hard job! Sorry you didn't make it to KC. I am trying to organize one for the fall here where I live....Keep that in mind. The fort we stopped in was only for the evening.....we stopped in the town to spend the night as it was so hot. We left the next morning for Colorado.
