This is such a lovely image Peter!! The lighting is perfect and your choice of B/W enhances such a still life! #1231440Anthony L. Mancuso January 26, 2010
Agree with what Laurence had to say Peter, very well done... I would like to see how it would look with the building visble through the window blurred out a little...congrats on the EP! #8331931Dale Hardin January 26, 2010
Superb Peter. Probably my favorite of images you've posted. Excellent and will probably go further than the EP. It deserves it. #8332029Jeff E Jensen January 26, 2010
I've marked this as a favorite.Just curious, what is the item hanging on the wall to the left of the window? #8332439

This is fabulous. It evokes such a wonderful mood. It looks like it could be part of a movie set. #8332695Peter W. Marks January 26, 2010
This is strange, I wrote a fairly long response to the first three comments and it has disappeared. I probably had a senior moment and put it on someone else's image! Now I am off to try to find my missing response. lol #8332696

Peter I am agreement with the compliments on this shot. From the many very nice photos you have shown this is the best so far. I love the composition and the tones in the shot. This could be in any photo coffee table book I have ever seen. Very well done and I am expecting to see this one go lots farther than an EP.I am also adding it to my favorites. #8332813

LOVE this, love the BW, the lighting but what I love most is the feeling of this shot.Susan M. Reynolds January 26, 2010
Kudos on the EP first of all...The black & white on the window scene is wonderful - love how it draws you in and makes you wonder what is happening outside it's mysterious panes that don't let us see all the way out...Debbie E. Payne January 27, 2010
I am in total agreement with the others, Peter. This is the best picture that you've submitted to Phellos. Very nice. The black and white is perfect. Now you need to start showing us some images we can make suggestions on. This one already got an EP! - and by the way, good luck on the next round. #8334826Peter W. Marks January 27, 2010
A big thank you to all of you. I think it was some months ago that this image got its EP, but it went no further. It is an image that seemed to get very positive responses both back then and now from you my friends. I took Jim Zuckerman's 4-week course on "Natural lighting" back in the fall and he was most complimentary with his critique, saying"I think the black-and-white shot is a fine art image. The lighting is beautiful, the composition is excellent, and you have good detail in both the highlights and shadows -- which is what black-and-white is all about. I'm glad to see that you used a fairly small lens aperture for increased depth of field. I think this is a wonderful image for the assignment, and I can see this hanging in a gallery framed elegantly and selling for a high price. Very well done."
I need hardly say, after the above I really did think it would at least make it to 'Finalist' but it was not to be!

Keep trying with it Peter. It may just have been a tired judge that passed it by. Often re-submits work. #8335018Teresa H. Hunt January 27, 2010
Wonderful image Peter. I love the tones and feel of it. I agree with Debbie . . . re-submit it!! #8335254Susan M. Reynolds January 27, 2010
Very well said by Jim Z a true expert on lighting! Try entering it in a contest outside of BP too! #8335880Michael Kelly January 27, 2010
Yes I agree with Jim and all the responses since your last post. I believe the BP contest is more of a sales tool on their part than a true contest and with so many images entered it is amazing that they do even as well as they do. It is fun and I enjoy it but the results must not be taken to seriously - either positive or negative.I would certainly enter it again and, as Susan said, try outside BP also. It is a great image. #8335975

me too, me too, me too... to everything that has been said I love this image and agree it is my favorite of all yours, and echo mikes words on the contest. truely a beautiful image Peter #8336914Joan E. Hoffman January 28, 2010
Mr. Zuckerman summed it up very eloquently Peter! You NEED to re-submit this one! Everytime I see a B&W tho... I want to see it in colour... just so that I KNOW! For some reason, I imagine this in mediterranean colours... But likely, its not! LOL #8338022Peter W. Marks January 28, 2010
Just to please you Joan. This image is straight from camera but cropped.Joan E. Hoffman January 28, 2010
Thank you Peter... and actually it is exactly as I knew it would be.... therein lays the power of B&W... In my mind the walls are adobe coloured.... the pots are jewel toned... probably deep blue, green, mustard or burgandy. The curtains... maybe crisp white, but more likely another rich colour....! However... knew it was England... not the Mediteranean! #8338232Joan E. Hoffman January 28, 2010
Rolf.... Ok got Susans window mixed up in my mind with yours............no curtains~:) #8338252Peter W. Marks January 28, 2010
You got in with that just in time Joan. I had just finished supper and was about to ask what you were smoking! #8338257Anthony L. Mancuso January 28, 2010
Good job cloning that blue thing out of there Peter...would've never guessed.. #8338293Susan M. Reynolds January 28, 2010
The clone and black & white makes this one stunning photo! #8338670Dale Hardin January 30, 2010
Thanks for sharing the original Peter. Nice job taking out that sign. Sometimes an image gets help with a bit of manipulation doesn't it? :o) #8342189Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
