im not sure if you are familiar with HDR (high dynamic range)photos, but this seems like it would be the perfect candidate.
either that or maybe lower the shutter speed a bit and get more light in the room, does seem a bit dark,
its up to you tho.

Thanks for your suggestions Rob. Much appreciated friend. I have not had much success with HDR. Which method have you used- shooting several images from a tripod using different shutter settings or as some have claimed success with using a single RAW image and making copies from that?
If you care to go to my gallery I have uploaded another image of this window but I used fill-flash. What do you think?

Hello Pete, this is an other candidate for BW. This image is better then the brighter one in your gallery.
I like the frame. The set is in place for the "classic scene"... antiquity structures, arch outside the window, pitchers, etc... except the blue sign that can be seen trough the window... it should be not there or removed. #6251113

Thanks for visiting Max. It is interesting how some like it dark, some like it light! The dark one was my favored one and was the first image I shot. Then after looking at the histogram I decided I would try some fill flash which did infact give an image that was more like the actual lighting in that room. The reason for not cloning out the blue banner is that it tells us that this is an art gallery/studio in St Ives, Cornwall but of course only I know that as just part of the words are legible! The owner Bob Devereaux is a well known artist, poet, librettist and gallery owner but perhaps I am trying to achieve two things with the image. The dark walls are what contribute to the "classic" scene but the blue banner is what makes it a "record" of place. So I guess as I have both images I might make a third by photoshopping out the banner and following your suggestion even make a forth by converting to B&W.
I very much appreciate both yours and Rob's critiques and I sincerely thank you both.
