Madame Merganser

Uploaded: July 19, 2008

Description

Merganser family in Wisconsin. This bird is tiny. The Mom is maybe 5lbs. Most of the time, the Mom was between us and the little ones. The female, if she feels the brood is threatened, will pretend to try to fly away, pretending to have a broken wing to distact a predator. Very fascinating.

Exif: F Number: 8, Exposure Bias Value: -0.33, ExposureTime: 1/500 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 500, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 400.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 40D

Ellen - Excellent wildlife capture! That Mom is definitely watching you! I used to go fishing up in the Hayward area every fall for about a week. I wasn't into photography like I am now...I can only imagine all of the shots I could of had. :( - Mike #6200514
