This is a photograph of a cactus called the "Queen of the Night". Most of the year it looks like a dead stick and one night a year they throw up these gorgeous blooms. This was taken at Tohono Chul Park in Tucson, where we were playing around with a flashlight trying to see if we could get an interesting lighting effect on the blooms. The flashlight was held directly under the bloom pointing up. I really love the end result.

Taken at 930 pm, manual mode, f 5.6, ISO 800, 1/10 shutter speed, white balance flash, no tripod, no flash

Exif: F Number: 5.6, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/10 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 800, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 55.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi
