Ulysses you are so funny! You remind me so much of my nephew! So light hearted and fun. Well, I'm glad the judges all liked this one! I worked hard on it. Thanks lots. :) #6087244

Wow! Lura this is great! Thanks for going wild on us! #6087465

Aimee C. Eisaman June 20, 2008

Fantabulous Laura....I LOVE it! So beautiful and mystical! Maybe a good title could be Mystical Magnolia?? Just an idea! I just love the rich dark colors and the crisp focus is wonderful! You should go wild more often! I personally would take that blemish out in the future, but thats just me! I'm so proud of you on this one....you have done an amazing creative job! :~) #6087529

Ulysses A. Villamin June 20, 2008

"Fantabulous".... Hmmm... I like that word :)

Fantasmagorgeous!!! Supercalifragilistic even!

Uh.. I like it ROFL. Great stunning wonderful work Laura... #6087784

Laura E. Swan level-classic June 20, 2008

Wow. I love all this new VOCABULARIUMISM going on here! Cool! You know Dave, I'm beginning to think that I am not very good at "conventional"...Humm

And Aimee...Mystical Magnolia. I -like- it. Let me think it over. I picked STEEL cuz of the metal look to it and also the movie title. Double auntundra...but I like yours, too. :) That blemish made me wonder a little as well but then I thought of [our] Joan's beautiful sepia type daisy flower that we all loved and it just got a FINALIST...!!! (It had a little crease in one pedal). I do get confused at times what is acceptable and what is not. ~sigh~

[Our] Joan! Thank you so very much! I think I need to write these words down for future reference. (Or daily doses!)

My friends. :) Thanks for all of the encouragement. #6087926

Laura
Stick with "Steel" -- this is .. this... ("I'm trying to think of some outmoded sixties/seventies aphorism for this image. Far-out...Hairy... Whatever...you get the idea. I can see this on some band's CD cover. You Rock, Granny! :) #6088164

M.Christine Duncan June 20, 2008

Laura, I believe it's spelled "double entendre" lol.... sorry, I have tears in my eyes... ahem, as I was saying - "THIS ROCKS GIRLFRIEND"! Wow, amazing image, very edgy and very fun! Great detail, crop, and effects... wowzaa! #6088186

Laura E. Swan level-classic June 20, 2008

Hi Debbie :) Maybe you are trying to squeeze out a memory of perhaps IRON MAIDEN. Dirty Hairy. STEELY DAN. Ha!

I'm so flattered you can picture this on a CD cover...but boy, am I feeling the pressure by you saying that. -Now- I have to make up a bunch of songs, hire a band, become famous. Thanks a lot. I will NEVER catch up with my laundry NOW. Ha! :) (Thanks for the fun).

Hi Christine! Tears in your eyes. I hope its not from the smell of my flower. I know steel and water probably don't smell very pretty together. Likely it has WD-40 on it, too, for loosening the pedals.

Really...double entendre....well, I'll be a monkeys Grandma. It didn't come up red as a spell check for me. It probably just got sick of me and said...Ah, what the heck. Lets let this one go and watch her cringe later!...

(Sorry for no question marks or quotation marks in my typing tonight. That buttons are not functioning properly. I donèt know why, I get ÉÉÉÉ instead of question marks. Ièm typing in the dark and likely hit some wonderful button that I will never find again.

Thanks again ladies! -Laura

Paula Abdul: Laura, you're so sweet and I think you have a beautiful smile, and I like the shoes...

Simon Cowell: [gaze at Paula] Paula, yes or no?

Paula A: One million times yes! [kisses Simon on the cheeks]

Simon C: I say yes!

Randy Jackson: Laura E. Swan...

[Laura gulps... sweats... and double gulps]

Randy Jackson: Its a yes for me... Welcome to Hollywood!!! Yeah, dawg!!!

Laura: Oh, thank you so much!!! [sighs and exits] #6088296

Dont forget the part where I go running out of the room squealing as pass through the doors. Waving my yellow paper, jumping up and down and then cry profusely as my family hugs me and wonders in their minds if I will buy them all houses and corvettes if I win. Ha!

You've sure got those judges down Ulysses! Thanks for the fun. -Laura #6088323

But that is how I would be thinking that Dale would say. I'm missing his critiques.

Hi DJ GLEN! Glad you liked this one. It did turn out kinda neat didn't it?! I had to enter one photo every day to start getting EP's. :) Repetition is the mother of success.

Keep heart and keep taking all the new help and information in. It's in the learning and not giving up that we really become successful anyway. Right? COOL! -Laura #6134600

Graham Robards July 03, 2008

Congratulations on the EP Laura, well done,I bet you feel thrilled but because of the rules is this the last one you will get? You are so talented, shame not inspire it hey! ~Pat #6136507

Laura E. Swan level-classic July 03, 2008

Hi Glen and Pat. :) Yes Pat, this will be my very last EP. Free gallery members are no longer allowed to enter the contest which means no more recognition of any kind. I'm bummed out about it TOTALLY but maybe it just means I need to learn to be more secure in myself as an artist and be happy without them? Dang they are exciting to get and a great incentive to keep trying even harder! :) Thanks you two! -Laura #6136549

Graham Robards July 03, 2008

It's the incentive Laura, you don't need to learn more, it beats me why you are being forced into paying for a premium site when you have much more talent than some who already own these galleries.

Yes I guess I can understand that they are getting overloaded with entries but I'd like to see the pro's have entries of their own and those new to photography have their own too...and pigs may fly lol.

Hi Pat :) Thanks so much for what you said. I was on the fence at 22 bucks but 50 is just so high and then 40 per year afterwards? Another BP'er said this is still a great price for what yo get so I will have to really think it over. I wrote more about my feelings on two discussion wall posts. In the mean time I am glad to still be here. If they start charging 22 bucks for a 30 photo gallery I will be disappearing! xo-Laura

Laura,
I'm sorry the latest BP changes mean that people with talent (i.e., you), but without mucho dinero (also you, I'm guessing), can't enter the contest --- unless a rich relative dies, and/or you win the lottery...
Great work in the Digital Darkroom ~ a well-earned EFP. I especially like the drops on the petals turning to blue splashes on the "steel".
BTW, as I understand the e-mail re: the new gallery costs, you have the option to let BP ads be displayed in your gallery; in return for that, BP will knock off 20 bucks. Something to ponder... #6148220

Laura E. Swan level-classic July 08, 2008

Hi Mary! How very nice to have you stop to comment here! :) I am sorry for the BP changes too. I used to get so excited to take a series of pictures...pick out the best and prepair it to be entered. I am a balloon that as been popped! Ha!

I have never heard about the 20 dollar discount for ADS running on the page. Humm... Wonder how many ads and how bad it would look or not so bad?

At 29 dollars I could afford that! Thank you so much for telling me about this. Where did you read this???

Thank you again for all that you wrote here. I really like my Steel Flower, too, Mary. You were the first to mention the pretty colors under the drops...and it will never rust, either! Ha! -Laura #6152459

All the best Laura, and go & enjoy that family breakfast!!!

I am surprised you don't have a premium gallery Laura...You have some great stuff...I, on the other hand, am more of a music person. I like to "Color My World" with music, because "I've Got the Music in Me." I also like to "Celebrate" good time with "Friends" who know that "I'm Too Sexy." "Do You Think I'm Sexy?" Hey, if not, "Who's Sorry Now?" But, I'll take the "Blame" because it' "All Right Now."
Hey...it's been a while.

Laura, I have to tell you what a treat it was to read all the comments to the bottom of the page on this wonderful creation of yours! Isn't it such a cool feeling when you happen on that interesting effect and color in DD? No more fumbling around in darkrooms. Just push a button and back it up if you don't like it! This is such a stunner! Kudos! #7585463
