Zion Canyon in Southern Utah. #938268

Hey Phellos - No need to critique this one (though I'm always open to suggestions)

Just thought I'd show you where we are trying to head this week. My brother is flying in from New york and we are supposed to head out tomorrow. So far, we have had the following challenges:

1 - Blew the tranny in our Suburban last week. No worries, just put in a new one.

2 - Trans mission problems with the 1-week old transmission. Turns out it is the drive line control module. No problem just put in a new one.

3 - Check Engine light comes on - still working on this one. Shop thinks they will have it done first thing in the morning so that we can be on the road by 10.

4 - Brother's flight is delayed by 1.5 hours. He is now scheduled to arrive in Chicago 1 minute after his connecting flight leaves. Lucky enough, his 2nd leg is also delayed and he makes it with about 3 minutes to spare.

On top of all of this, the weather has turned a bit back to winterish. Calling for wind, rain, and not very warm. Should be fun in a tent.

So, if everything works out, I'll be gone for the rest of the week. Wish me luck :o)

you just have to love those challenges....have fun stay warm, your view is awesome I am afraid my family wouldn't see much of my face because my camera would always be in it. #8497110

While you are there Jeff, would you mind fixing the weather.... we should arrive there possibly by the weekend or early next week!... BRRR... winter tenting...

I love this shot... wish me as much success! My last batch were from my little point and shoot... and with zero knowledge of what I was doing! Zion is spectacular, and hopefully we will get to Bryce this time round as well. #8497320

Oh and BTW... challenges usually come in threes, so you are well set for a safe and successful trip, having got over the hurdles before leaving... Have FUN! #8497328

Thank you ladies! We are still waiting to hear on the car. Hopefully soon, then we can pack and get on the road.

Rita - my family is used to seeing my face with a camera in front of it.

Joan - I'll do my best on the weather. I'm not holding out much hope for blue skies like this one, but we'll see. Zion is one of my favorite places to go. I haven't been there this early in the spring before, should be fun. #8497455

Have fun Jeff and don't worry about the weather. That's when you get your best shots. Nothing brighter than Zion rocks after they've been wet.

Getting a bit chilly here also. They told us we'd see a 30 degree drop in temp tomorrow, all the way to 59 degrees. Brrrrr. :o) #8497796

Beautiful shot of the Zion rocks framing a lovely sky!
Hope your trip turns out better and the car whoas are over too! Telling you to take a lot of photos would be a little cliche ~ as we know you will definitely come through on that one for us! #8498116

Good luck, have fun.
Beautiful place warm and dry, rainy and cold, you will come back with some amazing shots. Do not know about sleeping in a tent tho, I am too much of a woose. I need to be warm. #8498378

Now that my son is living in Salt Lake there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be going on a roadtrip and seeing Southern Utah. The skies look like Colorado skies against the red rocks. Great shot, needs so critique as far as I can tell. Car problems can really be such a drag. Hope all is well now. #8498784

Well Jeff, thank you for sharing that tale of mechanical woes! Just be grateful that you don't have a Toyota, your Suburban won't go, the Toyotas won't stop!
Love this image, yet another beautiful place I probably will never get to. #8498838

Have a great time on you trip Jeff, judging by this image you will get some awesome shots!

I love this image but I cant resist suggesting a couple minor tweaks.

1) Open up the shadows in the bottom left corner.

3) Correct the vertical distortion for the cliff on the left (unless it is angled like that in nature)

2) Clone out the car in the mid lower right.

Thanks all! Unfortunately, the trip was a disaster. I didn't have a whole lot of opportunity to shoot, so I'm not sure I got much. After the kids are in bed, I'll dump my files and see if there is anything worth posting. #8503752

O No.....so sorry to hear the trip went sour! I hope you at least came away with one or two images worthy of keeping. :~) #8504443

Congrats on the EP Jeff...don't know what happened to the numerical order of my suggestions above, I swear I wasn't drinking when I wrote that! #8507555
